Carlo Ancelotti in his latest interview has revealed why Real Madrid will reject the invitation to play at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.
Carlo Ancelotti has announced that Real Madrid and other clubs are considering boycotting FIFA’s new-look Club World Cup next summer.
The tournament expanded to 32 teams, and is set to be held in the United States at the end of the 2024/2025 season. Chelsea and Manchester City are among the 12 European clubs that have qualified.
The proposed Club World Cup has faced backlash due to concerns over player welfare and its addition to an already crowded football calendar. The competition is scheduled to take place over four weeks, from June 15 to July 13, 2025, with the final occurring just four weeks before the start of the next Premier League season.
Why will Real Madrid miss the Club World Cup 2025?
Ancelotti has expressed doubts about the event, revealing that Real Madrid plans to withdraw due to a lack of financial incentives. It was revealed that the winner of the tournament will receive the sum of 20 million euros an amount which Don Carlo has categorised as relatively minimal and is the estimated amount Real Madrid earns from a single match.
He said, “FIFA can forget it, players and clubs will not participate in that tournament. A single Real Madrid match is worth €20million and FIFA wants to give us that amount for the entire cup. Negative. Like us, other clubs will refuse the invitation.”
Which clubs have rejected the Club World Cup 2025?
Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that other clubs will also reject the World Cup 2025 idea alongside Real Madrid. Although no club has been mentioned it can be remembered that Pep Guardiola of ManCity had also expressed his disatisfaction with the new club world cup format.
