The stage is set for Arsenal vs Manchester City for a thrilling encounter at the Emirates Stadium as Mikel Arteta leads his team to face the reigning Premier League Champions.

This encounter promises to be a fascinating tactical battle, with both teams looking to take maximum points against each other. Arsenal’s high-pressing game will be tested by Manchester City’s ability to control possession and pick apart defenses with their passing game.

Arsenal have been one of the surprise packages of the season, with their young and dynamic squad exceeding expectations. The Gunners will be looking to build on their impressive form and prove themselves as genuine title contenders as they look to put pressure on Liverpool.

On the other hand, Manchester City will be looking to solidify their place in the top four following their victory over Chelsea at the Etihad. A win for Pep Guardiola and his team against Arsenal will likely be a step in the right direction to finish in the top four.

Arsenal vs Manchester City:

Recent form

The Gunners beat Girona 2-1 earlier this week to seal an automatic spot to progress into the Champions League last 16. Manchester City also booked a spot in the round of 16 after they beat Club Brugge in their final group phase fixture to ensure they reached the Champions League play-off.

Team News:

Arsenal will have Myles Lewis-Skelly available after the red card he was shown against Wolves was overturned earlier this week.

Mikel Arteta confirmed that David Raya is a doubt for the Gunners, which means Neto will likely continue in goal. Ben White, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu are all injured.

City will have the availability of the latest signings Vitor Reis, Omar Marmoush, and Abdukodir Khusanov after they sat out of the Brugge game as they were not registered for the first phase of European competitions. Guardiola has confirmed none of City’s injured players will return here.

Head to head:

The Gunners have won most of these fixtures having secured 100 wins with Manchester City securing 65 wins while the tie ended in a draw 47 times. The reverse fixture back in August 2024 saw Mikel Arteta’s ten men almost take all the points but John Stones broke their hearts at the death to rescue a point for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Date and Venue:

Arsenal vs Manchester City will be played at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, February 2, 2025.

Prediction:

The game will end 2-2.
