Asake emerges only African nominee for International Artist of the Year at the 2025 BRIT Awards.

Nigerian superstar Asake has been confirmed as the only African artist nominated for the prestigious BRIT Awards 2025.

Asake will compete in the “International Artist of the Year” category against some of the biggest names in global music. Among his competition are world-renowned stars like Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, Tyler, The Creator, and other international stars in the category.

Asake, who is celebrated for his unique ability to blend Afrobeats with contemporary sounds, has been nominated following the massive success of his third studio album, Lungu Boy after his previous two studio albums in 2022 with MMWTV and Work of Art album.

Lungu Boy was released in 2024, the album has received various nominations especially the ‘MMS’ collaboration with Wizkid. ‘Lungu Boy‘ has cemented Asake as one of the leading voices in African music today, with chart-topping hits and collaborations with global artists such as Wizkid for the Nigerian Audience, Stormzy and Central Cee for the UK market, Travis Scott for the American Audience, and Ludmila for The Latina market.

In the 2024 BRIT Awards, Asake, Burna Boy, and Rema earned nominations for the award show, Burna Boy was nominated alongside Asake, Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Rey, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and SZA, who won the award.

While Calm Down by Rema was nominated as the “International Song of the Year” with Tyla’s 2023 hit ‘Water’ nominated, the category was later won by Miley Cyrus for her single “Flowers”.

Asake is having a very good 2025 as he already has three major nominations on the global music scene for 2025. Mr Money has he’s popularly known has been recognized by three of the most prestigious award shows, earning a 2025 Grammy nomination for “Best African Performance” with his hit track “MMS” with Wizkid, nominated for “Best International Act” and “Best African Music Act” at the 2025 MOBO Awards, and now the BRIT Awards.
