Speaking in an interview on Beats 99.9 FM’s morning drive show on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, Ayra Starr, born Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, talked about her collaborations with two of Nigeria’s best Afrofusion stars, Asake and Seyi Vibez, despite rumors of a rift between the two artists.
The Mavins record label signee shared her admiration for both Seyi Vibez and Asake, expressing that she is a huge fan of their musical styles. Ayra Starr specifically mentioned her love for Seyi Vibez’s track Different Pattern and how it inspired her to reach out to the artist for a collaboration. She noted that Seyi Vibez responded swiftly, delivering his verse in less than three days.
Ayra Starr also discussed her collaboration with Asake, highlighting how quickly he responded to her request to feature on the album. She downplayed the alleged beef between the two artists, emphasizing that she is more focused on the sonic quality of her music rather than any rumored conflicts.
In addition to her collaborations, Ayra Starr spoke about her memorable encounter with global superstar, Rihanna. She expressed confidence that her music resonates with the kind of sound Rihanna appreciates. Although, she refused to disclose if she and Rihanna are working on any joint project.
