Ayra Starr and Tyla are set to represent African music and also bring their global stardom to Central Park’s Great Lawn as acts at this year’s Global Citizen Festival on September 27. The dynamic duo joins an all-star lineup that also includes chart-toppers The Weeknd, Shakira, and Mariah the Scientist, in what promises to be one of the year’s most impactful music events.
The annual festival, hosted once again by Global Citizen ambassador Hugh Jackman, will not only celebrate music but serve as a rallying cry for urgent global action. This year’s campaign focuses on access to clean energy for 1 million people across Africa, educational opportunities for 30,000 children worldwide, and a major environmental push to protect 30 million hectares of the Amazon rainforest.
Also, in partnership with FIFA, the festival aims to use the power of soccer to reach youth worldwide, while encouraging civic engagement by registering 40,000 New Yorkers to volunteer across the city.
