According to recent reports, Bayern Munich is set to go above and beyond to extend Alphonso Davies’s contract with the club.

Bayern Munich is prepared to make a major financial commitment to Alphonso Davies, offering him a lucrative contract extension worth €120 million (£100m/$124m). This move comes as a surprise, considering the club’s broader strategy to reduce overall spending. However, it’s evident that Bayern is willing to make an exception for one of their most valuable players.

Davies has been instrumental for the team, and his outstanding performances have earned him a substantial pay raise. Reports indicate that under the new deal, he will earn approximately $16 million per year, placing him among Bayern’s highest-paid players. The contract also includes a significant signing bonus and performance-based incentives, underlining the club’s determination to retain the dynamic Canadian at the Allianz Arena.

According to BILD journalists Tobi Altschäffl and Christian Falk, Bayern’s supervisory board has approved the total package of €120 million, which covers his salary over the next five years, add-ons, and a signing bonus. While the figure is substantial, Bayern believes that finding a suitable replacement for Davies would ultimately cost them even more.

Davies primarily plays as a left-back or left-winger for Bayern Munich and has reportedly captured the attention of top clubs such as Real Madrid and it is of no surprise that the German giants would be considering the option of going the extra mile to retain him.
