With less than 2 weeks left on the Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) show this season, the heat and tension have been turned up.

This was even more evident this past week as different emotions and strategies came to play. Here is a recap of everything that happened in Week 8.

SUNDAY (AFTER EVICTIONS)

After the live eviction that saw Ben and Chizoba leave the Big Brother Naija No Loose Guard house, the housemates contemplated how it affected them.

Ben’s friends Tjay and Anita were sad to see him go while Ocee and Victoria, surprised by Chizoba’s eviction, spoke about how unpredictable the game was. Nelly took it upon herself to console Onyeka who was distraught over her sister’s eviction.

MONDAY

Monday saw Sooj emerge as the HOH of the week after he had the fastest time in the game. As the housemates made their way to the house to wait for nominations, Biggie’s wrath struck.

He scolded them for flouting his rules time and time again as he revisited Article 16 of the rule book, which states that strikes are applicable for infringements like discussing nominations and conspiring when it is not permissible.

Four housemates, Handi, Wanni, Shaun and Kassia were found guilty and were each issued a strike.

Afterwards, the housemates got to nominate who they wanted gone, maintaining the face-to-face nomination style used the previous week.

At the end of it all, Anita, Handi, Kassia, Nelly, Onyeka, Shaun, Tjay, Victoria, and Wanni were up for possible eviction on Sunday.

TUESDAY

The morning kicked off with the housemates’ workout session, and then it was straight into business mode.

Based on the topic of the week’s wager which was ’Face Your Fears’,  the housemates gathered to share some of their deepest fears in a bid to create a powerful and emotional wager presentation on Friday.

They each took turns sharing personal battles and how they have been overcoming or managing these challenges.

Nelly opened up about her sexual abuse experience from a pastor while Tjay spoke about the stress of dealing with life-and-death situations. Handi discussed her lifelong battle with shyness and her inability to stand up for herself.

Victoria reflected on her communication issues during childhood, and Kellyrae revealed his struggle with self-doubt, particularly concerning his singing abilities. Sooj assigned roles and asked for volunteers with Onyeka offering some wisdom from her own HoH experience.

Then came the diary sessions with Biggie. He asked the housemates about who they trusted the least in the house. Nelly mentioned Wanni, Wanni mentioned Sooj, Anita, and Nelly while Tjay called Kassia’s name.

The O2 besties, Onyeka and Ozee finally had a heart-to-heart. Ozee declared that there should be no more fighting between them and Onyeka agreed. They addressed their past issues, sealing the truce with a hug.

WEDNESDAY

The day started with the housemates in the gym but they were not prepared for what happened afterwards. They received an unexpected visit from Biggie’s Ninjas.

Topher had a playful chat with Nelly, asking if he could trust Anita with his life, teasing that he was planning to go to her village to “pluck the tree.” He described her as the type of girl one could take home to meet the parents.

Some housemates decided to play diary sessions with Anita, Handi, Kassia, Kellyrae, Onyeka, Ozee, Shaun, Topher, and Victoria participating and taking turns to act the role of Big Brother, offering a unique twist to the usual process.

They opened up about who they found most and least annoying, and reflected on their initial impressions of one another.

Suddenly, Ninjas made a dramatic entrance into the house, targeting and seizing their food supply, fried potatoes, beans, and even blended pepper, leaving the housemates in shock.

Later that night, Biggie hit hard at Handi, Kassia, Onyeka, Tjay, Victoria and Wanni, punishing them for failing to follow his instructions. He placed hula hoops around the house and instructed them to stand inside whenever they heard the buzzer, not allowing them to move from their designated spots unless for bathroom breaks, and warning them that they must remain completely still until the next buzzer sounds.

THURSDAY

On Thursday morning just after their training session, the housemates were informed that the garden was open for them to use but they were not ready for what they came across there.

It had been trashed and was a total mess. HoH Sooj consoled and begged them to clear up the mess and enjoy the space again which they quickly did although visibly angered by Biggie’s actions.

Onyeka had a tense conversation in which she confronted twins, Wanni and Handi claiming they often made her feel like she didn’t know herself. Shaun sided with her, acknowledging her frustration.

Anita, Nelly, Sooj, and Topher also took the afternoon to vent about Biggie’s unpredictable streak of punishments like their dwindling food supplies.

Kassia, Kellyrae, Ocee and Ozee chatted as well about Biggie’s recent crackdown on certain conversations which unfortunately led to strikes being served to Handi, Kassia, Shaun, and Wanni for conspiracy and discussing nominations which were against the rules and strictly prohibited in the house.

The Thursday night pool party was filled with fun and laughs, and fans got the bit of drama they have become accustomed to. The housemates danced and moved to the rhythm of the music blasted from the speakers and had fun.

After the pool party, Onyeka, who was in a drunken state, was seen talking to Ozee and complaining of knee pain from Biggie’s [punishment. She then said to him, “Can I bite your beard?” in a playful manner before she was ushered to her bed by him.

Sooj and Victoria also had a brief but necessary conversation after the pool party in the kitchen to bury the hatchet. Victoria pointed out that their relationship in the house had grown distant, to which Sooj agreed with the two promising to be nicer to each other from then on.

FRIDAY

After Sooj’s conversation with Victoria the night before, there was visible tension between him and his boo, Nelly, who felt uncomfortable about walking in on the two of them.

She spoke to Ocee, and Anita about seeing Sooj being too friendly with Victoria, especially with the way he had quickly removed his hand which had been on Victoria’s shoulders while they were talking upon seeing her.

For the 3rd time that week, Biggie showed his powers, ordering the housemates to freeze. Ninjas then went around the house, spraying them with canned whipped cream on their faces, in their hair, on their clothes, everywhere.

With the wager day a few hours away, the housemates held their first rehearsal that afternoon after a week of shooting and scattered planning. It turned out to be chaotic as they scrambled to make last-minute edits.

Topher landed himself in hot water with his bae, Anita during the preparation with the phrase, “make everybody come here with brain,” meaning everyone should come correct for the night’s presentation which she took personally.

In a desperate bid to fix things, he asked for advice from his bae’s bestie Nelly, who told him to give Anita some space.

Kassia also had a deep conversation with Victoria, addressing her close connections in the house, her former bond with Fairme David and why she moved to a new friendship with Ozee, despite the issues it had caused in the house.

Victoria explained that her relationship with Fairme David became strained after he made her uncomfortable with his advances. As for Ozee, she said that he is a genuine person and their friendship is based on the intellectual conversations they have, denying her friend’s insinuation that she was using him for his connections in the outside world.

Later that night, Sooj led the housemates to their third consecutive wager win with the highlight of the night being their deeply emotional short film No Guard Lost, which touched on issues like suicide, the pain of losing a parent, the heartbreak of a sports injury cutting short an athlete’s career, sexual abuse, bullying, and body shaming.

As they reeled and basked in the euphoria of their latest win, Ozee opened up to Victoria about her unresolved tension with Onyeka, sharing that Onyeka was open to having a conversation with her because she actually likes her.

He encouraged her to settle the issue before either of them left the No Loose Guard house. Wanni then called for the housemates to gather in the lounge as they played a lively game of charades, imitating each other and laughing the night away.

SATURDAY

The day was a pretty slow one with the housemates mostly sleeping and resting after their wager win the night before. In a hilarious conversation with Anita, Nelly, and Tjay, Topher made a playful statement, “I don already prepare my suit for Mr Ukah,” which begged the question of whether Topher was seriously considering settling down with Anita after the show.

Nelly jumped in with a detailed list of “requirements” which included stacks of Naira at 1 million per stack or a bag of foreign currency for Topher to meet before he could claim Anita’s hand in marriage.

Meanwhile, twin sisters Handi and Wanni had a chat in which the latter confronted the former about her behaviour and how she had been treating her. Handi, who seemed to take her sister’s words to heart, apologized, and the two made up.

Later that night, the housemates had their weekly Saturday night party which is always a vibe! They finally got to kick back, sip a few drinks, and give us a show while serving looks and energy.

After the party, Handi and Sooj had a heart-to-heart where the two got cozy, and she admitted she had been admiring his athleticism and party stamina for a while.

SUNDAY

Sunday saw the housemates prepare for the live eviction show. When it was time, Ebuka showed up on the screen as usual and did his thing, asking them questions about recent events in the house.

Sooj was the first to get grilled, with Ebuka questioning him about eavesdropping on Nelly and Ocee’s conversation. Kellyrae and Wanni also found themselves in the hot seat as they had to clear the air about a recent disagreement over meat distribution. Kassia and Onyeka were also put on the spot.

It was then time for evictions which came with a hard punch. Handi, Shaun, and Tjay unfortunately were sent home, a move that saw Wanni and Victoria in tears over the loss of their friends.

With just two weeks until the BBNaija finale and 11 housemates left, the pressure is on and the drama is getting bigger. We can’t wait to see what unfolds in the 9th week.
