Reality TV star and media personality Munirat Anto Lecky has been appointed as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Tourism and Creative Economy by Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Governor of Edo State.
The announcement was made official via a letter signed by Umar Musa Ikhilor, Secretary to the State Government, stating that Lecky’s appointment took effect from June 23, 2025.
Anto Lecky, best known for her time on Big Brother Naija, is expected to play a key role in revamping Edo’s tourism and creative industries. Her focus will include leveraging the state’s rich cultural legacy—such as the historic Benin bronzes—and promoting upcoming museum and heritage projects.
“The Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved your appointment as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Tourism and Creative Economy,” the appointment letter reads. “Please accept my hearty congratulations.”
Shortly after the announcement, Lecky confirmed the news on her Instagram page, expressing gratitude to Governor Okpebholo for the opportunity to serve.
In addition to her new role, Lecky currently serves as the Special Assistant on Digital and New Media to Shuaibu Audu, Nigeria’s Minister of Steel Development. Her diverse background includes experience as Programme Manager at Kunle Afolayan’s KAP Film and Television Academy, Arts and Special Projects Lead at ElectHER, and Head of Operations at the country’s first private basketball league.
She also gained popularity as the host of Sights of Flavours, a culinary and travel show that aired on DStv.
Lecky’s appointment is seen as part of Governor Okpebholo’s broader strategy to inject youth and creativity into his administration, especially as Edo State positions itself as a major hub for culture and tourism in Nigeria.
