Veteran Nigerian singer, Blackface, born Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo, has accused his junior colleague, Shallipopi, of plagiarizing his song for the newly released album Shakespopi.

In a post on Instagram on Sunday, April 14, 2024, Blackface voiced his frustration, alleging that Shallipopi had joined the list of artists who have purportedly stolen his work. Over the years, Blackface has previously accused artists such as 2Baba, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Olamide, and Asake of similar transgressions.

Blackface expressed his dismay at the trend of new generation artists allegedly incorporating his sound or melody in their work. He wrote, “Una mean say if them no copy my sound or my melody them no go get song to sing? Ok I don make remix for una so make una better abandon this una project!”

The veteran singer’s post highlights his ongoing battle against perceived plagiarism in the music industry and his determination to protect his artistic contributions.
