African artists and prominent figures made it to Variety’s best-dressed list from the 66th Grammy Award Ceremony.

Blaqbonez, Tyla, Ayra Starr, Hannatu Musawa, and Folake Olowofoyeku made it onto Variety Entertainment’s Best Dressed Looks from the 2024 Grammy Awards. The event took place on February 4, 2024, with South African songstress Tyla claiming the title for Best African Music Performance. Despite Nigerian artists experiencing significant losses in all nominated categories, they still arrived dressed impeccably.

The Minister of Art and Culture of Nigeria, Hannatu Musawa, donned a stunning black bejeweled dress paired with a green gele. Nigerian artist Blaqbonez sported a sleek black suit featuring a snake design, styled by creative director Sebastien Day (Visionary Bash). Ayra Starr graced the 2024 Grammys in a light blue two-piece outfit crafted by American fashion designer Candice Cuoco.

Tyla wore a custom-made Donatella Versace Atelier dress which took over 230 hours to make. The Versace Gown was crafted from georgette in fluid draping. It also had micro-draping and featured crystal embroidery detailing, over a one-sleeve nude base with crystal net.

In her award-winning Versace dress when she collected the award for Best African Music Performance she said, “I never thought I’d say I won a GRAMMY at 22 years old. Thank you so much to God, my team, my family. Thank you to the recording academy for this category”.
