The beginning of each year marks an unbeatable amount of musical predictions that establish a framework for how music will be perceived throughout the year.

Music Identifying Gaint, Shazam has released its 2024 breakthrough artists predictions. Afrobeat sensation Bloody Civilian was number one on the list. The Shazam Predictions 2024 is a 50-track selection of artists that are perfectly poised to have a breakthrough year. The app gets millions of requests from users worldwide curious about the artist behind a song, making it the ultimate algorithm for predicting future stars.

Shazam spotlighted five artists “who are poised for a major 2024”. Among them were Bloody Civilian, Flyana Boss, Kenya Grace, Riize, and The Last Dinner Party. With her peculiar name Bloody Civilian (Emoseh Khamofu) is one of the many Nigerian women setting a precedence on an international level.

Her afrobeat musical score “Wake Up” features Rema which was used in the Grammy-nominated Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. In 2023, she featured in Odumodublvck and Wale’s song ‘Blood on the Dance’. Her first EP, ‘Anger Management’, achieved top 10 status on the Afrobeats albums chart in 69 countries globally.

During an interview with Tilewa Kazeem, Khamofu discussed the inclusion of her song in the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, stating, “Since the film is about Africa and had a very women-led cast, they really wanted to portray the strength of women in general. So, even with the way they made the music, they wanted it to involve women creatives. They wanted female songwriters, producers, and when you run a search for female producers in Nigeria, there’s very few that come up. I just happened to be one of them”.
