British-Ugandan model Eva Apio has firmly denied rumors that she was ever romantically involved with Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Asake, following fresh social media speculation that reignited over the weekend.
The rumors resurfaced on May 16 after a photo of the two dressed in matching outfits during an outing in Paris went viral on X (formerly Twitter). The image captioned “Asake and his girlfriend, Eva Apio,” sparked a flurry of online chatter and excitement among fans who believed the pair were an item.
But Apio was quick to set the record straight. On Sunday, she directly responded to the viral post, writing: “I was never his girlfriend.” The brief but clear statement has since been widely circulated, effectively putting an end to the speculation.
Eva Apio, born in Uganda on July 30, 2000, began modeling at a young age. After taking a brief hiatus at 13, she resumed her career at 16 and signed with London-based Zone Models. She is the daughter of former Miss Uganda, Eva Mbabazi, and has built a strong personal brand that blends fashion, philanthropy, and global influence.
Asake, whose real name is Ahmed Ololade, broke into the spotlight in 2020 with his viral hit “Lady.” Since joining YBNL Nation in 2022, the singer has become one of Afrobeats’ most recognizable voices. Earlier this year, he was nominated for a Grammy Award in the ‘Best African Music Performance’ category, though the win ultimately went to fellow Nigerian star Tems.
The singer has continued to evolve artistically, recently launching his new label, Giran Republic, and releasing singles such as “Why Love” and “Military.” In the latter track, he gave a heartfelt shout-out to rapper Olamide, crediting him for playing a pivotal role in his rise to fame.
Despite the dating rumors, both Eva Apio and Asake remain focused on their individual careers — and now, thanks to Apio’s straightforward denial, fans can finally put the romance speculation to rest.
