Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Burna Boy has stirred emotions online after revealing he has let go of his famed title, African Giant, sharing a deeply personal and cryptic message about his emotional struggles.

In a heartfelt post shared via his backup Instagram story, the City Boys crooner disclosed that the persona of African Giant is dead, claiming it was “killed” by his own people. According to the singer, in the aftermath of that loss, a new version of himself, ‘Big 7’, was born to shield what’s left of his broken heart.

“The ‘African Giant’ Burna Boy died. His own people killed him. Then Big 7 was born to protect what was left of Burna Boy,” he wrote. The artist went on to explain the internal conflict between these two versions of himself, admitting they often clash as ‘Big 7’ guards his wounded spirit while the memory of ‘African Giant’ continues to haunt him.

The post quickly sparked widespread reactions, with fans expressing a mixture of concern for Burna Boy’s mental health and admiration for his openness. Many praised the singer for his vulnerability, while others sent words of encouragement, hoping he finds peace amid his inner battles.

Lastly, known for his bold confidence and resilience, Burna Boy’s revelation marks a rare moment of raw honesty. It offers fans a glimpse into the emotional burdens that often come with fame and public scrutiny.
