Burna Boy interpolates the 1989 “Back to Life (However Do You Want Me)” by Soul II Soul, which made an indelible mark with its blend of dance, R&B, and British soul.
“Update” is not the typical Burna Boy track that dominates the charts. Lyrically, it feels weaker, with Burna Boy seemingly focusing more on experimenting with the beat rather than delivering impactful lyrics. The two earlier releases from his ‘No Sign of Weakness’ which are ‘Higher’ and ‘Bundle by Bundle’ received positive feedback from fans and received accolades for the songs, Higher was nominated for ‘Best Africa Music Performance’ at the 2025 Grammys while Bundle By Bundle was among the songs that took over most December party.
‘Update’ wasn’t strong enough; Burna Boy performed well but not as powerfully as expected.
