The Athletic confirmed the news on its official website on Sunday, April 20, 2025. According to reports from Real Madrid the hierarchy at the club are looking at the possibility of moving on from Carlo Ancelotti.

The Spanish champions are due to talk to open talks regarding his future following the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona on April 26.
