Cassper Nyovest Reminisces On His Mentor HHP: “Thank You for Everything Grootman.” South African rap heavyweight Cassper Nyovest has once again taken to social media to honour and remember his mentor and late hip-hop legend, Jabulani Tsambo, famously known as Hip Hop Pantsula (HHP).

In an emotional post, Cassper opened up about how much he misses his late friend, sharing how their bond shaped his life and career.

“I miss him soo much today,” Cassper wrote, reflecting on HHP’s wisdom, humour, and his larger-than-life personality. “Our chats, his wisdom, his humour and animated nature. What a giant!!!”

The Solomon hitmaker didn’t hold back on crediting HHP for being instrumental in his journey. “Thank you for everything grootman laka!!! If it wasn’t for you, there is no CASSPER NYOVEST and many more!!!”

Cassper and HHP shared more than just a professional relationship—they were brothers in arms, with HHP famously co-signing a young Cassper early in his career. It was HHP who introduced Cassper to a national audience, giving him his first real shot in the South African music industry. Many fans still recall their iconic collaborations and the way HHP proudly uplifted the next generation of Motswako rappers.

Cassper’s tribute comes at a time when conversations about HHP’s legacy continue to inspire many in the hip-hop space. Fans flooded the comments section with messages of support and shared their memories of HHP’s music and his influence on the culture.

Jabulani Tsambo passed away in October 2018, leaving a massive void in South African music. Known as the “Father of Motswako,” HHP blended languages and sounds that not only entertained but also educated and united people across borders.

Cassper’s post is a reminder of HHP’s lasting impact—not just on his career but on the South African music industry as a whole. As Cassper said, without HHP, there may never have been a Cassper Nyovest.

And for many, that says it all.
