Following the release of the highly anticipated ‘Baby (Is it a Crime) by Rema, fans have taken to social media to react to his first song of 2025.

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema has once again captured global attention with his latest single, ‘Baby (Is It a Crime).’ Released on February 7, 2025, the track samples Sade’s 1985 classic Is It a Crime, blending nostalgic jazz elements with Rema’s signature Afrobeats and alté fusion.

This marks his first solo release since his Grammy-nominated sophomore album, HEIS, and fans are already embracing its unique sound. In an interview on BBC Radio 1’s New Music Show with Jack Saunders, Rema revealed that the song was born out of deep personal reflection.

He described being alone in Kenya, drinking red wine, and channelling raw emotions into his music. For him, Baby (Is It a Crime) is about love and passion, themes he believes should always be at the heart of his artistry. Since its release, the song has sparked excitement across social media. Here are some of the reactions of fans:

I know say Rema don pay una for PR but take it easy with the glazing .The second verse isn’t what I really expected from Rema so I’ll rate it 2.5/10

And I’ll also be streaming while it’s on mute 🔇

Smooth record. P. Prime did his thing on the production. The second verse was highly anticipated but the first verse ended up being better. I wonder what happened with the J Hus feature. Would’ve banged but still good regardless. 8/10 in my opinion

Rema’s Baby (Is It a Crime) second verse slaps even harder than the first. Banger upon banger. Shit crazy!!!
