Chelsea Football Club has reportedly agreed on the future of Ian Maatsen for next season. According to transfer news expert, Fabrizio Romano, both parties will part ways during the 2024 summer transfer window. Maatsen will leave Chelsea permanently, and Borussia Dortmund will pay £35 million for the player.

Maatsen joined Dortmund on loan in January 2023 and is expected to return to Chelsea in the summer. He has been instrumental for the German side in their quarter-final clash against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. He spoke about his time at Chelsea and the lack of game time he got at the club before leaving on loan to Germany.

He said,

“I always had the belief to play for Chelsea, but unfortunately, for some reasons, it didn’t work out. But now, I am here, and I am very grateful for this opportunity. I came here to experience the highest level and play my game, and today, I think I showed a very good performance.”

Maatsen will hope to help Dortmund get past Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final.

🔵🇳🇱 Chelsea and Ian Maatsen are expected to part ways in the summer, as revealed in March.

No changes as Chelsea are planning to make profit and Maatsen wants to play regularly.
