Grammy-winning singer Chris Brown appeared at Southwark Crown Court in London on Friday, July 11, 2025 where he pleaded not guilty to two additional charges stemming from an alleged bottle attack on a music producer at a London nightclub in 2023.

The 36-year-old R&B star, dressed in a light brown suit, denied charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm to Abraham Diaw and possession of an offensive weapon, a bottle, during the brief court appearance. This follows the earlier not guilty plea of Chris Brown to a more serious charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, entered at a hearing last month.

The alleged incident took place on February 19, 2023, at Tape, an exclusive private members’ club in London’s upscale Mayfair district. Prosecutors claim Diaw was struck several times with a bottle before being chased to another part of the venue, where he was allegedly punched and kicked.

Brown’s co-defendant, US national Omololu Akinlolu, 39, also faces charges in connection to the incident and has pleaded not guilty.

Around 20 supporters attended Friday’s hearing, with audible gasps reported as the Go Crazy hitmaker entered the courtroom. Despite the ongoing legal battle, Brown has continued with his international stadium tour, recently performing in Cardiff as part of a 20-year career celebration.

He remains on conditional bail, having posted a £5 million security bond to the court as a guarantee of his return for future proceedings. Brown was previously arrested by Metropolitan Police officers in May at Manchester’s Lowry Hotel while on tour in the UK and was later released from HMP Forest Bank in Salford.

The high-profile case is set to go to trial in October.

R&B singer Chris Brown has denied further charges following an alleged bottle attack in a London nightclub.
