Many users had no clue as to who sang the song initially. The chart-topping song became the longest-running global No. 1 song of 2021 that was Shazamed on the platform, number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100. and was number 3 on the UK singles chart, ahead of Drake and Billie Eilish. The track also became the second song to ever surpass 1 million Shazams in a week. There was considerable debate regarding the ownership of the song, as, during that period, the true identity of the song’s creator, Ckay, remained unknown. The original ‘Love Nwantiti’ had been remixed from a club banger to a sexy strip club-esque record.

In the ongoing dominance of Afrobeats, Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ featuring Selena Gomez has achieved a significant milestone. The hit song became the first track led by an Afrobeats artist to reach one billion streams on Spotify. In another giant feat, Wizkid has now surpassed 6 billion streams on Spotify as a lead artist thus extending his African record.

As time continues to progress, ‘Love Nwantiti’ will gradually approach the milestone of a billion streams on Spotify.
