Davido has officially announced that award-winning music producer and vocalist Cobhams Asuquo will serve as the musical director for his highly anticipated ‘5ive Alive’ world tour.
The announcement came Tuesday via a behind-the-scenes video shared on Davido’s Instagram, offering fans a glimpse into the intense preparations ahead of the international tour. In the clip, Davido was visibly energized by the collaboration, calling Cobhams’ work on the show’s arrangements “blow-your-mind good.”
“He is the ‘5ive Alive’ musical director of the world tour,” Davido said. “Almost 20 arenas — it’s going to be crazy. Today is the first time I heard what he’s been working on, and I’m blown away.”
The ‘5ive Alive’ tour will see Davido perform in nearly 20 arenas worldwide, bringing the music from his latest studio album ‘5ive’ to fans across the globe. The tour promises to be one of Davido’s most ambitious yet — and the addition of Cobhams Asuquo is a major creative boost.
Known for his remarkable talent and versatility, Cobhams brings decades of experience to the table, having worked with some of Nigeria’s biggest music icons. Despite being visually impaired, the producer’s career has defied every limitation, with appearances on international stages, including the Harare International Festival of Arts and the French Cultural Centre Concert.
Davido’s fifth studio album ‘5ive’, released on April 18, features an eclectic mix of Afrobeat, dancehall, R&B, and global pop influences. The 17-track project features collaborations with an international star-studded lineup, including Chris Brown, Becky G, Shenseea, 450, Tayc, Dadju, Musa Keys, and Nigerian heavyweights such as Omah Lay, Chike, Odumodublvck, and Victony.
