Delta State High Court has denied Davido’s motion to halt all legal proceedings filed against him by Amaju Pinnick.

In November 2023, Amaju Pinnick filed a civil lawsuit against Davido for his no-show at the Warri Again Concert. According to Sahara Reporters, the Delta State High Court in Effurun has dismissed Davido’s request to halt legal proceedings in the N2 billion lawsuit filed against him by Brownhill Investment Company Limited.

Brownhill Investments Company Limited, owned by former NFF president Amaju Pinnick, informed the court in November 2023 that Davido was to perform at their event. However, he allegedly failed to honour the agreement, opting to perform at another event in Australia on the scheduled date.

The claimant, represented by Kelechi Onwuegbuchulem, is seeking N2 billion in damages from Davido and his music company, Davido Music Worldwide Limited, along with additional expenses. Davido and his legal team filed for a stay of proceedings. This means halting further legal processes in a trial.

Davido’s counsel, Mr. Norrison Quakers (SAN), withdrew the motion for a stay of proceedings, citing a pending appeal. Davido’s lawyers tried to stop the case by challenging the court’s jurisdiction. The court disagreed and didn’t accept their argument.

Additionally, the court accepted a request from the party suing Davido (the claimant) to fix any issues with their response to Davido’s defence. They also instructed both parties to submit certain paperwork within 14 days. The next court session for this case is scheduled for March 21, 2024.
