The Sun confirmed the possible return of the Spaniard on its official website on Saturday, August 16, 2025. According to reports, the Red Devils are looking at having an experienced person as one option for goalkeepers at the club going into the rest of the season.
There is a report that David De Gea has a release clause in his contract with Fiorentina that can allow him to leave the club whenever there is a better offer. However, if the deal sees the light of day De Gea will not be a number one starter at the club but his presence will bring a lot of experience to the squad.

De Gea made 545 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United, more than any other goalkeeper in the club’s history. Within that run, he kept an astonishing 190 clean sheets, cementing his place as United’s all-time clean sheet leader.
In the Premier League alone, he featured in 415 matches, keeping 147 clean sheets. Those numbers put him in elite company, both at the club and in the league’s history books. His longevity also made him the seventh-most capped goalkeeper in Premier League history.
