Nigerian music sensation, Davido has shared his ambitious Grammy aspirations, asserting that he believes he merits more than 20 Grammy Awards.
In an exclusive interview with a prominent media outlet on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, the DMW boss disclosed that he has received nominations in three distinct categories for this year’s Grammy Awards.
During the conversation, the interviewer acknowledged Davido’s significant influence on Afrobeat in Africa and queried how the Grammy nominations personally resonated with him. Davido expressed gratitude to the academy, noting that this marks his first-ever Grammy nomination and finding it surreal to receive three nominations simultaneously.
In his words, “Shout out to the academy; this is my first nomination ever, so it’s crazy to get three at one time.”
Delving into the dedication invested in the album and record, he highlighted the relentless hard work, stating, “We worked really hard on this album, on this record, and I was always just patient.” Concluding the interview, he confidently stated his belief in deserving numerous Grammy Awards, saying, “If you ask me if I deserve Grammys in the past, if you ask me, I need 20 Grammys already. But like I said, God’s timing is the best.”
