Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has once again captured the hearts of fans after a heartwarming video surfaced online, showing him expressing deep appreciation to veteran highlife legend, Bright Chimezie.
In a video shared by nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief priest, Davido was seen on a video call with the iconic singer, openly crediting him as the inspiration behind his global hit single With You. The Afrobeats star explained that the veteran’s original track, also titled With You, sparked the creative process for his latest hit, which has been enjoying massive airplay and international recognition.
During the conversation, Davido made it known that the song was doing exceptionally well worldwide and urged those present to play it for Bright Chimezie. In a touching moment, he turned his phone towards his television screen so the highlife veteran could see the visuals of the track being streamed.
Davido also revealed plans to host Bright Chimezie in Lagos, noting that arrangements would soon be made to fly the legendary musician into the city. Cubana Chiefpriest, who posted the clip, hailed Davido in his caption, referring to him as a “great in-law to the Igbo people” and prayed for his continued blessings and honor.
It’s another example of Davido’s well-known humility and reverence for Nigeria’s music legends, as well as his commitment to bridging generations in the ever-evolving Afrobeats space. The singer’s With You recently went viral on social media, with a Ghanaian TikToker, Ananzoofficial, even receiving N8 million from Davido for an impressive cover of the song.
