Afrobeats superstar Davido has shocked fans by revealing that With You, his hit collaboration with Omah Lay, almost didn’t make it onto his latest album, 5ive.
In a surprising confession on American news channel ABC, Afrobeats star Davido revealed that his smash hit With You, a collaboration with fellow artist Omah Lay, was nearly omitted from his recent album, 5ive. The song has since become one of the biggest tracks of 2025 and a fan favorite on his ongoing 5 Alive tour.
“It almost didn’t make the album,” Davido admitted during the interview. “Every time I remember I almost took it off the album, my heart starts beating.” He went on to praise his collaborator, stating, “Shout out to Omah Lay. I am glad we were able to collaborate on a true African classic.”
The song’s success has proven the decision to keep it on the album was a wise one. It has been a highlight of the multi-award-winning superstar’s North American tour, garnering a rousing response from audiences.
The tour itself has been a resounding success, with Davido recently celebrating a sell-out of 12 venues across the continent. This achievement was marked by a celebratory cake with his team after a concert at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland.
However, the tour had been briefly paused for Davido’s lavish Miami wedding to his long-term partner, Chioma Rowland, which was attended by several high-profile guests, including Aliko Dangote and Bukola Saraki.
