Davido initially embarked on his career as a producer before transitioning to singing. Despite not envisioning himself as a solo artist initially, he found success with his debut single. “At that time, I never imagined myself being in the forefront as an artist. One day, one of my cousins decided to release one of my songs under my name, and when I moved back to Nigeria, I embraced it full-time”, he shared.

Expressing his fondness for collaborations, he highlighted his inclination towards integrating other artists into his creative sphere. Davido’s first single Back When was a collaboration with Naeto C. He said, “My first single was a collaboration, so I love collaborating, especially bringing them into my world”.

Additionally, Davido spoke about the global ascent of Afrobeats. He emphasized that while accessibility has increased, the genre’s essence and music have always been present. He said, “Now there’s access to us but the Music and vibe has always been there”.

During the interview, Davido also discussed his upcoming single Flex My Soul. He hinted at a female guest appearance on the track, which he plans to perform on the Billboard Honda Stage.
