Veteran Afrobeats star D’banj has weighed in on the ongoing rift between P-Square brothers Peter and Paul Okoye and their elder brother, Jude Okoye, urging the Federal Government to step in and help resolve the feud.
Speaking during an interview on Adesope Live, D’banj described the legal and personal battle as unfortunate and called for reconciliation. The dispute, which centers around a $1 million fraud allegation by Peter Okoye against Jude Okoye and his company, Northside Entertainment, has divided fans and dominated headlines in recent weeks.
D’banj revealed he recently had a private conversation with Peter during a flight, where they discussed the lingering tensions. He expressed optimism that the brothers could still reach an amicable resolution, especially given the immense value of their music catalogue, which he likened to “gold.”
Highlighting the importance of their legacy amidst the feud, D’banj said even if P-Square never performs together again, both sides should find a way to peacefully settle their differences. He also recalled how former President Olusegun Obasanjo once personally intervened in a financial dispute involving football legend Jay Jay Okocha and urged government authorities and industry elders to do the same for the Okoyes.
D’banj concluded by appealing to respected figures and institutions to mediate the dispute, stressing that unity within the music community is vital for the industry’s continued growth.
