Recent reports now reveal that Kevin De Bruyne has received his first club ‘love-call’ ahead of the highly anticipated 2025 transfer window.
Belgian star Kevin De Bruyne has received his first club ‘love-call’ following official confirmation of his departure from Man City at the end of the season for the June 2025 transfer window.
Kevin De Bruyne is poised to leave Manchester City on a free transfer this summer, sparking global interest from clubs eager to sign the iconic midfielder. Among the suitors is MLS side Chicago Fire, which has reportedly made a formal move to land the Belgian international.
While De Bruyne is still evaluating his next step, Chicago Fire have expressed genuine interest in securing his services. This isn’t the club’s first high-profile pursuit — they previously attempted to sign Neymar before the Brazilian opted to return to his boyhood club, Santos.
Regarded as one of the premier midfielders of his generation, De Bruyne boasts an illustrious career at Manchester City, having claimed six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, five Carabao Cups, and a Champions League crown.
Several MLS clubs have been linked with a potential move, including New York City FC, Inter Miami, and Chicago Fire. San Diego FC were once believed to be the front-runners but are reportedly no longer in contention.
Inter Miami, meanwhile, currently holds De Bruyne’s MLS Discovery Rights, giving them a potential edge. However, their current Designated Player slots are full, meaning any deal would likely require De Bruyne to accept a significant wage reduction to join Lionel Messi and others in South Florida.
Chicago Fire, on the other hand, have an open Designated Player spot to pair with Jonathan Bamba and Hugo Cuypers, though they would first need to acquire De Bruyne’s rights from Inter Miami.
