Following a hard-fought victory of London rivals Tottenham, reports of a possible new injury for Chelsea’s Wesley Fofana has been confirmed.
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca in his pre-match press conference has confirmed that Wesley Fofana has picked up another injury in their London derby fixture against Tottenham which saw the Blues earn a crucial 3 points in the Premier League.
Speaking with reporters Enzo confirmed, “[Fofana had] a muscle problem a few days ago and we are waiting for more checks.”
When asked about the Romeo Lavia injury status he also added, “[Lavia] for Sunday is out. We don’t know [about a timeline] yet. Romeo looks a little bit better injury compared to Wes, in terms of Romeo will probably be back more quickly than Wes.”
Both players being absent ahead of the away fixture against Brentford will prove to be a huge blow as things continue to unfold. Both Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia played key roles under Maresca during the opening half of the season but have faced significant disruptions in their campaigns.
Fofana has been sidelined for nearly three months due to a hamstring injury, while Lavia has managed only two league appearances since mid-December, owing to various setbacks.
