Many have criticised DJ Envy for letting his little daughter dress up as Lil Kim in the famous “Crush on You” music video.

DJ Envy’s eight-year-old daughter had dressed in Lil Kim’s costume for Halloween, ruining what was supposed to be a lovely Halloween occasion for the Casey family.

Innocently enough, the image shows the Brooklyn superstar FaceTiming with her co-host of The Breakfast Club, who expressed her complete acceptance of the child’s use of her trademark vibrant outfits from the 1997 video, which also included performances by Uncle Luke, Aaliyah, Sheek Louch, and others.

With Envy’s daughter wearing a risqué red bodysuit, identical wigs and furs, the footage is also costume correct. Although she covers her mouth as the most explicit lines are delivered, she then lip-syncs Kim’s words, such as “I’ll be undressed in a bra, all see-through” and “the only one thing I wanna do is freak you.”

“She took the assignment very seriously. SHE ATE THAT!!!” Cardi B wrote a congratulatory note in Envy’s comment section. Lil Scrappy added, “The baby got best actor inna film, she did that.”

However, given its sexual nature, the majority of followers thought the music and outfit selection were improper.

“If your wife played Kim, I could see it, but what about your daughter? Really?” another observer commented, adding that, “It is gross and inappropriate to have your child out here dressing and rapping like this for the world to see.”

Walt, of VH1’s Black Ink Crew, remarked, “This is KRAZY. Amazing idea. incorrect delivery.”

One uneasy follower commented, “#cringe,” while another said, “I don’t know any good parents who would be cool with their daughter in a dress like this at 8 years old. extremely unsuitable.”

In addition, the Casey family honoured Aaliyah by re-creating her 1997 video “One in a Million.”
