The English Football Association (FA) has decided not to punish Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson for slapping Nottingham Forest’s Morato.
The incident involving Jackson and Morato was reviewed by the video assistant referee at the time and the officials did not see anything wrong with what the Senegalese international did during the game.
The incident started when Nottingham Forest’s Neco Williams sparked the confrontation after his challenge on Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella sent the full-back off the pitch into the technical area, which resulted in him running into his coach Enzo Maresca.
Several players then piled into a melee, including some off the bench, pushing and shoving each other before referee Chris Kavanagh regained control. The match had 11 yellow cards in total from other incidents that happened during the game.
The FA said in a statement,
“It is alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 88th minute. Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have until Thursday, October 10, 2024, to provide their responses.”
A total of six players were booked for the Blues throughout the match, meaning they are the subject of an automatic £50,000 fine after accumulating six or more bookings for the second time this season.
