The supporters of Arsenal Football Club had the last laugh after their club won the appeal concerning the red card that was issued to Myles Lewis-Skelly by referee Michael Oliver.

The English FA confirmed in a statement released on its official X account on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, that Myles Lewis-Skelly will be available for selection when Arsenal face Manchester City at the Emirates in the Premier League. The 18-year-old was controversially shown a straight red card by referee Michael Oliver in the first half of Arsenal’s 1-0 victory for taking down Matt Doherty in his half.

The statement read thus,

“An independent regulatory commission has upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal in relation to Myles Lewis-Skelly and removed his three-match suspension. The Arsenal player was sent off for serious foul play during their Premier League fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, January 25, 2025. “

Lewis-Skelly set a record as he became the third youngest player to be dismissed in Premier League history. However, the Gunners appealed in a bid to get the red card overturned and the FA’s decision means the young defender will not be suspended.

He was initially banned for the games against Manchester City, and Newcastle United in the FA Cup and the league game against Leicester City.
