The head coach of Chelsea Football Club, Enzo Maresca has cleared the air about who will be his first-choice goalkeeper going into the rest of the season.
Most Chelsea supporters have in the past criticised Maresca’s decision to always play Robert Sanchez ahead of Filip Jorgensen despite the numerous mistakes made by the Spaniard. However, the Italian confirmed that he would continue with his decision to play Jorgensen at the moment which he started with against West Ham United.
He said,
“Our keeper in the Premier League, in this moment is Filip Jorgensen I spoke with Robert a few days before West Ham. I never spoke again. With Filip, exactly the same. They know the situation. This is the situation. In this moment it is like this.”
Jorgensen was between the sticks during the Blues last victory in the Premier League against West Ham United and Enzo Maresca hopes that his inclusion against Brighton in the Premier League will bring maximum points their way.
Enzo Maresca also spoke about how he would line up his team without the presence of Nicolas Jackson who was recently ruled out for about eight weeks.
What did Enzo Maresca say about Nicolas Jackson’s absence in the Chelsea squad?
Maresca was asked by the press how he intends to shape his team without the presence of a striker ( Marc Guiu and Nicolas Jackson)
“Christo could be one of the solutions, but he’s not the only solution. I consider Christo a very important player since we start. When you don’t have a proper 9, you have to change not only the 9 and the way you want to play.”
Maresca would hope he gets a victory against Brighton so he can ease off a bit of pressure from Chelsea supporters who have labelled him incompetent
