Arda Guler’s remarkable goal for Turkey has broken a 20-year-old record set by Cristiano Ronaldo at the UEFA Euros.

Real Madrid’s sensational youngster, Arda Guler has broken Cristiano Ronaldo’s long-standing record at the UEFA Euros in Turkey’s first fixture of the 2024 tournament.

Arda Guler who has been tipped as one of the players to watch out for in the coming year solidified the reason for his move with his goal in the 65th minute of the Euro 2024 for Turkey.

In their Euro 2024 Group F match against Georgia, Turkey secured their first-ever tournament-opening win at the finals under the guidance of Vincenzo Montella, thanks to a stunning goal by Arda Guler in the 65th minute.

Turkey took the lead with a goal from Mert Muldur after 25 minutes, but Georgia’s Georges Mikautadze equalized seven minutes later, marking Georgia’s first goal in the European Championships.

The score remained tied until Guler struck from just outside the box to put Turkey back in front. Substitute Kerem Akturkoglu added a third goal in the seventh minute of stoppage time, securing a 3-1 victory for Turkey in North Rhine-Westphalia.

At 19 years and 128 days old, Cristiano Ronaldo scored in his European Championship debut against Greece at Euro 2004, this made him the youngest player to score in his first appearance in the tournament’s history, despite Portugal’s 2-1 loss.

He held the record through the next four tournaments (Euros 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020) until the stunning goal from Arda Guler for Turkey in the fixture against Georgia on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Arda Guler scored at 19 years and 114 days old, thus breaking the Portuguese legend’s record in Turkey’s victory.
