The head coach of the German national team, Julian Naglesmann released a provisional 27-man list for the Euro 2024 competition.

The major inclusion on the list of Arsenal’s most in-form players towards the end of the season is Kai Havertz while the major omission from the list of Borussia Dortmund’s Mat Hummels.

Aleksander Pavlovic, Maximilian Beier, and Alexander Nübel are the ‘debutants’ in the Germany list for Euro 2024. Beier and Pavlovic have both previously been called up to the national team in the March international break but did not make an appearance.

Why did Naglesmann drop Hummels?

Naglesmann did not give a specific reason for leaving out Hummels from the team but he confirmed that he spoke to the midfielder before releasing the list.

“I had a long talk with both Hummels and Goretzka. They’re very disappointed as they’re out of the list. I tried to explain why they weren’t included. Understandably, they are sad.”

The German boss also said that 22 outfield players and 4 goalkeepers will be taken to the tournament. He needs to have 4 goalkeepers in training for the Germany list for Eiuro 2024, to distribute the workload so that Neuer and Ter Stegen don’t always have to do everything in training to make sure they stay fit.

Who are the invited players for Germany?

Goalkeepers: Manuel Neuer, Marc-André ter Stegen, Alexander Nübel, Oliver Baumann

Defenders: Jonathan Tah, Nico Schlotterbeck, Robin Koch, Maximilian Mittelstädt, Waldemar Anton, Antonio Rüdiger, David Raum, Benjamin Henrichs

Midfielders: Aleksander Pavlovic, Robert Andrich, Joshua Kimmich, Pascal Groß, Ilkay Gundogan, Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala, Toni Kroos

Attackers: Niclas Füllkrug, Chris Führich, Leroy Sané, Kai Havertz, Deniz Undav, Maximilian Beier, Thomas Müller

Which teams are in Germany’s group?

The Germans will be kicking off their campaign on the 7th of June against Scotland in Munich, before games against Hungary (Stuttgart) and Switzerland (Frankfurt).

Germany will play two warm-up games against Ukraine (Nürnberg) and Greece (Mönchengladbach).
