Funke Akindele’s latest blockbuster, Everybody Loves Jenifa, has shattered records to become the highest-grossing movie of all time in West Africa, raking in an impressive N1.6 billion just one month after its release. This remarkable achievement has earned the film widespread acclaim and cemented its place in Nollywood history.

FilmOne Studios, the distribution company behind the film, shared the exciting news in a celebratory Instagram post on Monday. “A billy gang, we’re up! Everybody Loves Jenifa has grossed over 1.6 billion Naira at the box office!” the post declared, adding, “We can’t thank you enough for showing this movie all your love!”

Akindele, who has long been a household name for her role as Jenifa, also took to social media to express her heartfelt gratitude. “Na God do am. I am so grateful to you all. I no know wetin I go write again,” she posted, clearly overwhelmed by the success.

Everybody Loves Jenifa has not only set a new record for West Africa but has also claimed the title of Nollywood’s highest-grossing film ever. This milestone is another feather in the cap for the Jenifa franchise, which has delighted audiences since its debut in 2008.

The film boasts a star-studded ensemble cast, featuring Layi Wasabi, Nancy Isime, Jackie Appiah, Falz, Jide Kosoko, Bisola Aiyeola, Omowunmi Dada, Chimezie Imo, Patience Ozokwor, and Stan Nze, all of whom bring vibrant energy to the much-loved comedy-drama.

This success follows a series of record-breaking moments for Funke Akindele. In January 2024, A Tribe Called Judah became the first Nollywood film to cross the N1 billion mark at the Nigerian box office. Additionally, her 2023 hit, Battle On Buka Street, was named Nollywood’s highest-grossing film of the year, grossing N640 million.
