As EDC Thailand gets closer, here are some suggestions for things to do in Phuket, Krabi, and other parts of Thailand if you’re planning a trip to the festival.

With EDC Thailand kicking off for the first time ever at Phuket‘s Boat Avenue Lake Front, now is the perfect time to explore everything this vibrant area offers. The festival will undoubtedly be a highlight. However, Phuket also boasts beautiful dive sites, stunning beaches, and lively clubs catering to music lovers. Plus, Thailand is known as one of the safest countries in Asia, and you generally don’t have to stress about food poisoning here.

To help anyone visiting for the first time, we’ve put together some suggestions on things to do if you’re in the area before or after the festival.

Explore Thailand’s gorgeous beaches and jungles.

If you’re craving a day trip filled with natural beauty, head to the Phi Phi Islands. You can take a boat to the main island, then book a local tour to explore hidden coves and towering limestone cliffs. Booking in person is usually the best way to score a good deal.

Nearby Krabi also deserves a spot on your itinerary. Railay Beach and Ao Nang boast spectacular jungle views, but you’ll need a short boat ride to reach Railay. Again, it’s smart to check with your accommodation for advice, on-the-ground booking often yields the best prices. Unless you’re really interested, stay away from Patong Beach to avoid the crowds.

For a more cultural experience, venture into Old Town Phuket, where you’ll find a bustling night market on Saturdays and Sundays, perfect for sampling local foods and immersing yourself in Thai culture. If you have extra time, consider traveling further to other islands or visiting the capital city, Bangkok. However, be wary of visiting Chiang Mai from late January onward, as the burning season can affect air quality for at least two months, making it pretty unbearable to do anything outside.

Dance the day and night away to some fantastic DJs at top events and clubs.

If you’re looking to keep the party vibes going, Circoloco Phuket also happens to take place January 11 and 18, offering two weekends of house and techno at Baba Beach Club Natai, featuring artists like Chris Stussy, Seth Troxler, and Sven Väth. This is one of the best events in Asia all year, and although tickets are sold out for both Saturdays, there may still be ways to get in if you ask around.

Meanwhile, Café Del Mar Phuket has undergone a recent remodel and hosts several events throughout January, with artists like Ben Böhmer and Sven Väth performing in January. It’s also a fantastic spot to relax, sip a cocktail, and look out on the Andaman Sea any day of the week. For those seeking a clubbing experience, clubs like Illuzion Phuket, rated #1 in Asia and #11 in the world by DJ Mag, offer a packed schedule of shows through January and beyond.

Thailand offers a rich tapestry of sights, sounds, and flavors.

While you’re here for EDC Thailand, embrace the country’s laid-back yet safe atmosphere and enjoy every moment of your trip. EDC Thailand takes place January 17-19 in Phuket. The lineup features headliners like Skrillex, Tiësto, and Illenium, featuring five stages, kineticFIELD, circuitGROUNDS, stereoBLOOM, bionicJUNGLE and the boomboxARTCAR. Passes are still available, with single-day tickets out now.
