Following reports of growing interest of top clubs in the signing of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen popular transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has clarified why Chelsea who were favourites to sign him had pulled out of the transfer deal as soon as the June 2024 transfer window was confirmed open.
Is Chelsea signing Victor Osimhen?
In 2023, news of Chelsea’s interest in signing Victor Osimhen broke out on social media, sparking widespread speculation about whether it would be a good move for the club. By 2024, these reports gained traction following statements made by Osimhen regarding his future at his current club.
According to numerous media outlets, Chelsea have now pulled out of the race to sign Osimhen as their main striker ahead of the 2024/2025 Premier League season. This decision puts an end to the initial reports and speculations about the Nigerian forward potentially moving to Stamford Bridge.
Why will Chelsea not sign Victor Osimhen?
Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Chelsea is not considering a move for Victor Osimhen because of his wage demand.
Fabrizio stated that Chelsea believe that they currently can not meet Osimhen’s wage or salary demand. Victor is currently the highest-paid player at Napoli as of 2024 and from all indications, Chelsea who are currently on a wage trim will not be looking to meet the over 200,000 pounds weekly demand for the African footballer of the year.
Fabrizio indicates that if Osimhen reduces his wage demand Chelsea will make a move for the Nigerian international.

There has been no recent news on Victor Osimhen and a possible move to Arsenal in the Premier League. Reports however confirm that Victor Osimhen will fancy a move to Mikel Arteta’s side as opposed to a move to France or Saudi Arabia.
The future of Victor Osimhen in Europe remains uncertain but it is however a perfect understanding that he would make a move away from Napoli in the Summer 2024 transfer window.
