Nigerian rapper and activist, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has openly criticized President Bola Tinubu over the recent killings in Benue State, accusing the government of failing in its duty to protect Nigerian lives.
In a strongly worded statement shared via his official X handle on Monday, June 16, 2025, Falz expressed deep frustration over what he described as a recurring pattern of government negligence amid the country’s worsening insecurity.
“You have consistently shown that you are incapable of performing the primary duty of securing the lives and property of your citizens. This routine statement does not cut it,” the rapper wrote.

The reaction of Falz comes after massive killings in Benue State. Basically, there was a national outrage following reports that over 200 people were massacred in parts of Benue, allegedly by suspected herdsmen. The tragic incident has drawn condemnation from many Nigerians and several prominent figures in the entertainment industry.
President Tinubu, who had been criticized for his perceived silence on the killings, eventually broke his silence through a post on X. In his statement, he declared: “Enough is enough! I have directed the security agencies to act decisively, arrest perpetrators of these evil acts on all sides of the conflict, and prosecute them.”
The president also urged political and community leaders in Benue to avoid inciting comments that could worsen the situation. He called on Governor Hyacinth Alia to immediately lead efforts towards peace and reconciliation in the state.
“Our people must live in peace, and it is possible when leaders across the divides work together in harmony, and differences are identified and addressed with fairness, openness and justice,” Tinubu added.
I have been briefed on the senseless bloodletting in Benue State.

Political and community leaders in Benue State…

Despite the president’s eventual remarks, many Nigerians remain displeased with the delay in his response. This is especially as global religious leaders like the Pope had already condemned the attacks before Tinubu publicly addressed the matter.
