Finidi George confirms squad for Nigeria vs South Africa World Cup 2026 qualifiers

The newly appointed coach of Nigeria, Finidi George, has recently announced the official squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers.

Finidi George seems to be getting straight down to business as the new head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria has confirmed his squad ahead of the Nigeria vs South Africa World Cup 2026 qualifiers.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria team is set to take on the Bafana Bafana of South Africa at the Akwa Ibom Stadium in Uyo, followed by an away match against Benin Republic, during the international window scheduled from June 3 to 11, 2024.

These matches are part of match days 3 and 4 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign. The squad list was revealed in an image posted by the Super Eagles X social media account on Friday, May 24, 2024, outlining the players who have successfully made it into the team.

A key addition to the squad was Maduka Okoye with many also expressing shock that players like William Troost Ekong, Ola Aina and others were dropped ahead of the tie. Here are the players below:

Defenders:

  • Semi Ajayi
