Former Cameroon player dies in a fatal accident

It was a sad day for Cameroon football following the death of one of its former players, Landry Nguemo, who was involved in a fatal accident that claimed his life.

The news of his death hit the media on Thursday, June 27, 2024, according to the midfielder, he lost his life in a tragic accident, having been involved in a car crash that also cost the life of his driver.

The reports from social media confirmed that the former Cameroon midfielder Landry Nguemo (38) died in a fatal car crash, after a sand truck ran into his SUV, killing him and the driver instantly.

The Cameroon Football Federation ( FECAFOOT) also released a statement regarding the accident and sent their condolence to his family.

The statement says,

“The Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has just learned the tragic news of the passing of former Indomitable Lion Landry Nguemo in a traffic accident. Nguemo, who was a key player for the Cameroonian national team from 2006 to 2014 and a former member of Girondins de Bordeaux, will be remembered for his contributions to football. FECAFOOT extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the entire football community.”

he was a League Cup winner in 2006, and spent time on loan at Celtic before moving permanently to Bordeaux in 2011.The midfielder had 42 caps for Cameroon, scoring four goals before he decided to call it quit to his international career.
