Nigerian superstar Davido has once again cemented his legacy in the music industry, setting a new record for the highest streaming week in Nigeria with his latest single, “Funds.” The highlife fusion track, featuring Chike’s velvety vocals and OdumoduBlvck’s charismatic flows, has taken the country by storm, amassing an impressive 7.38 million streams in its opening week.

This achievement surpasses the previous record of 7.29 million streams held by Asake’s “MMS” featuring Wizkid, solidifying Davido’s position as a trailblazer in the Nigerian music scene.

“Funds” is not just another hit for Davido—it’s his third song in the top five highest streaming opening weeks in Nigeria, joining the ranks of the “Twe Twe” remix with Kizz Daniel and the “Ogechi” remix by Boy Pee, Hyce, and Brown Joel.

The single has also reached the #1 spot on the TurnTable Top 100, marking his fourth chart-topping song of 2024. It follows his earlier successes with “Twe Twe” remix, “Ogechi” remix, and “Awuke” featuring YG Marley, making 2024 a banner year for the Afrobeat icon.

“Funds” is the second single from Davido’s highly anticipated fifth album, Five, which will be released on March 14, 2025.
