Football legend Didier Drogba has reacted to the racist allegations levied against his former coach Jose Mourinho by his former club Galatasaray.

Didier Drogba has come to the defence of José Mourinho following allegations of racism made by his former club, Galatasaray.

Mourinho who currently manages Fenerbahçe, has been the centre of attention for the past few days following his statement after the intense Turkish Super Lig fixture Galatasaray vs Fenerbache which ended in a draw following his comment about the Galatasaray bench “jumping like monkeys.”

In response, Galatasaray announced plans to take legal action against Mourinho for what they described as racist comments. The club also stated their intention to file formal complaints with both UEFA and FIFA.

This statement as well as position has sparked different comments on social media but one that has caught the attention of many was the post shared by Chelsea legend Didier Drogba who worked with Mou and had a brief stint with Galatasaray as well.

His statement on social media read, “Dear @GalatasaraySK … you know how proud I was to wear the yellow and red jersey and my love for the most decorated club in Turkey!! We all know how passionate and heated rivalries can be, and I’ve been lucky enough to experience it. Ive seen the recent comments about Jose Mourinho. Trust me when I tell you I have known Jose for xx years and he is not a racist and history (past and recent ) is there to prove it. How can my ‘Dad’ be a racist … come on guys.”

Jose Mourinho has maintained his silence on the matter with Fenerbache also advising Gala to avoid taking things out of context and making this a racial war.

Dear @GalatasaraySK You know how proud I was to wear the yellow and red jersey and my love for the most decorated club in Turkey!!We all know how passionate and heated rivalries can be, and I’ve been lucky enough to experience it.Ive seen the recent comments about Jose…
