Nigerian rapper and Abuja native, PsychoYP, is known for his distinct style and recent extended play collaboration with Jeriq titled Evil Twin.

In a recent interview with the Grammy’s, It Goes To 11, PsychoYP revealed a surprising twist in his musical journey. One that involved a literal explosion.

It all started with a faulty extension cord. In the episode, PsychoYP recounted how a burst of flames took out all his recording equipment. He recounted it, but it felt like a total setback. But as they say, sometimes out of the ashes comes inspiration.

Forced to replace his gear, PsychoYP found himself diving deeper into the world of audio equipment. This research led him to a new microphone: the Aston Spirit condenser mic. And let’s just say, it was love at first sound. “I knew I was about to start making some crazy music,” PsychoYP said, describing the moment he got his hands on the Aston Spirit. He went on to explain how the microphone perfectly captured his voice, pushing him to explore new creative avenues.

“It made me express myself more—open my mind a bit more while creating,” he added. This newfound freedom of expression is evident in PsychoYP’s recent work. His music has taken on a more daring and experimental quality, much to the delight of his fans.

Looking back, the equipment explosion that could have been a disaster turned into a turning point for PsychoYP’s career. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the most unexpected events can spark the greatest creativity.
