In honour of Sam Kerr who extended her contract at the club till 2026, Chelsea have renamed the stadium from Stamford Bridge to Samford Bridge and the women’s football stadium to Kerrs Meadow from Kings Meadow till Sunday, June 16, 2024.
Speaking on the gesture as well as her contract extension, Samantha Kerr who had come up with the contract announcement prank stated, “It’s really exciting and a very proud moment for me. Having the opportunity to stay at a club like Chelsea means a lot to me. I’m really excited to continue to push and to try to win trophies.”
