In a thrilling new venture, Nigerian actor, singer, and television personality Joseph Benjamin has returned to Nigeria to host the fashion-centred reality TV show, Style Magnate which airs on Showmax.

Known for his versatility across entertainment forms, Benjamin brings his charismatic presence to a show that promises to spotlight Nigeria’s burgeoning fashion industry.

Reflecting on why he chose to take on Style Magnate, Benjamin explained, “When they approached me, I loved the concept as it is fresh and new, and that attracted me. Based on stats, the fashion industry is seeing a massive boom, and if we focus on Nigeria, we see that fashion has become a thing, becoming a major staple of our industry.

A lot of Nigerians would rather wear locally made outfits as opposed to big brands we have been used to.”

For Benjamin, who has had an illustrious career in Nigeria and the U.S., the chance to support Nigeria’s creative sectors beyond music and theatre made the project all the more appealing.

“There are a lot of great opportunities to showcase what our fashion represents, and what better opportunity than a reality show like Style Magnate? This is new, great, and a brilliant idea, so let me jump on it,” he added.

Joseph Benjamin’s amazing career

Joseph Benjamin’s journey through the entertainment industry is rich and multifaceted. Born in Nigeria on November 9, 1977, to a father from Kogi State and a mother from Anambra State, Benjamin’s early education took him across the country, nurturing an understanding of Nigeria’s diverse cultural landscape.

Although he relocated to the United States in 2016, his connection to Nigeria remains deeply rooted, making his return a cause for excitement among fans. Since his debut at age 12 on Tales by Moonlight and later in the 1995 film Crossroads, Benjamin has become a household name.

His breakthrough came in the 2010s with roles in romantic films like Tango With Me, Kiss and Tell, and Married but Living Single, which showcased his versatility and won him several accolades, including African Actor of the Year at the 2012 African Film Awards and Best Lead Actor at the 2012 Best of Nollywood Awards.

A Fresh Chapter for Nigerian Fashion

In addition to his television and film success, Benjamin co-hosted MTN Project Fame for eight years, solidifying his role as a talent advocate in Nigeria’s entertainment industry. His new role on Style Magnate signals a fresh chapter for Nigerian fashion, as the show sets out to provide a platform for local designers and fashion creatives.

By hosting Style Magnate, Benjamin is embracing the reality TV format and supporting a movement that celebrates Nigeria’s creative talent in fashion. With his distinctive flair, his influence promises to elevate the show’s profile, making it a must-watch as Nigerian fashion continues its rise on the global stage.
