Valentine’s Day is here. Which could mean old memories, and the return of the exes.

Just like the visit we got from Harmattan in January, there will be a lot of exes popping out of thin air with the “wyd” and “tell your Mum I said Hi” texts. See, this might not be the ‘safest’ time for you if you just got over a bad break-up or you are pining for the ex.

Now, we can’t tell you how to deal with your love life (or lack of it), but we can tell you how to practice self-care and self-love; and how to use a few tips to get rid of all that bad ex energy.

1. Operation Block 2025:

If you are in that awkward phase where your heart still skips at the text prompt of your ex (that we all know is trouble), this will be the perfect time to block them! Block! Block! The best way to get rid of bad energy is to not entertain it in the first place.

2. Burn The Vibes:

Disclaimer: Always be very careful around a fire (no matter how small) and never start one. Never.

This might sound extreme but it may be very cathartic. Get your ex’s belongings that are still with you and toss them in a little bowl of fire. Chuck the charred remains and that bucket out of your home as well. Good riddance to bad rubbish!Well, it’s all metaphorical of course 😉.

3. Clean The Bad Energy Away:

Usually, cleaning the house is a way to protect yourself and your family from germs and diseases. But if your ex has shown germ-like tendencies, they will be treated as such!Get a good cleaning agent and have at it! You can dedicate a weekend to cleaning your home from top to bottom. Nostalgia will hit you, but you are on a single mission – get rid of rubbles from the past.We are in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, so you also need to be very hygiene-conscious. Take it a step further, use Dettol Antiseptic Liquid diluted in water to clean every surface. Now tell us, which germs (ex or actual germs) will survive afterwards. Lol!

4. Palette Cleanser:

Some will say the best way to get rid of an ex, is to move on to another. There is nothing more to add. Have fun!

5. Intense TLC:

You may need to get off social media for the next couple of days. Don’t let the saxophone sound ‘strangle’ your ears if you are still touchy about your previous relationship. This is also the perfect time to spoil yourself silly. Eat what you want. Take care of your body – spa visits, facials, salon and nail appointments, etc. Just enjoy yourself. And friends may be the go-to you need in your self-care process.

Which are you going to use? PS: None will work if you decide to buzz the said ex.

Happy Valentines!
