Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, recently shared his heartfelt reflections on dealing with grief and the loss of loved ones in a candid interview with Mystery Fashionist in New York. The singer has faced immense heartache, losing his mother, Mrs. Victoria Imade Adeleke, at the tender age of 11, and his three-year-old son, Ifeanyi in 2022, along with close friends and associates, including Tagbo, DJ Olu, Obama DMW, and personal photographer Fortune, in quick succession.
In the interview, Davido spoke about how his faith has been a guiding force through these difficult times.
“I have lost a lot of people. I lost my mum at the age of eleven. I’m just being strong. I did a song called ‘Stand Strong,’” He said, emphasizing the importance of resilience. “I feel like strength and obviously, my faith has kept me going.”
Davido also took the opportunity to address some misconceptions about himself. He noted that while some may perceive him as unapproachable, others believe he is too accessible. “I grew up in a big family; I’m used to having people around me. My talent and success is God-given,” he explained.
