Following recent discussions in the Nigerian music industry, Eddy Remedy, one-third of the iconic music group The Remedies, has spoken out against claims made by fellow Remedies member Eedris Abdulkareem.
Contrary to popular belief, Eddy Remedy, one-third of the legendary Nigerian music group The Remedies, has refuted claims suggesting that Kennis Music played a part in discovering the band. During a candid conversation with Daddy Freeze on Instagram Live, Eddy Remedy spoke out against falsehoods and half-truths regarding the formation, success, and dissolution of The Remedies.
Recently, Eedris Abdulkareem, another member of The Remedies, claimed credit for creating the group and producing their breakthrough hit Shakomo during an episode of the Honest Bunch podcast. However, Eddy Remedy clarified that he recorded Shakomo while studying at Yaba Technical College, and it gained traction primarily in universities across Lagos and the Southwest before Eedris Abdulkareem came onto the scene.

Remedy further explained that he introduced Eedris Abdulkareem to Raypower FM studios rather than the other way around, contradicting Eedris’ account of bringing Remedy to the station to record Shakomo.
Eddy Remedy attributed the discovery of The Remedies to Mr. Solomon, revealing that it wasn’t until a year later that Raypower and Kenny Ogungbe, founder of Kennis Music, met the group. Additionally, Eddy Remedy discussed his issues with Kennis Music, claiming that his marital dispute with Kenny Saint Brown, sister to Kennis Music label boss Kenny Ogungbe, exacerbated the situation. Furthermore, Remedy accused Eedris Abdulkareem’s greed of preventing The Remedies from reuniting and capitalizing on opportunities to return to the spotlight.
Eddy Remedy also addressed Eedris Abdulkareem’s criticism of Burna Boy, stating that Eedris had no right to challenge Burna Boy’s statements about paving the way for Afrobeats, considering that Eedris focused solely on promoting himself without supporting any emerging acts. Instead, Remedy encouraged viewers to appreciate Burna Boy’s contributions to elevating Afrobeats to new levels.
Lastly, Eddy Remedy hinted that Tony Tetuila, another member of the defunct Remedies, might speak out about the matter, potentially verifying his claims and providing additional insight into the true story behind The Remedies’ rise to fame.
